Testimonials and Feedback

This page is where we will list testimonials and feedback we receive from our customers whether puppy buyers or those that have chosen to use our Stud dogs.

We first met Lisa and Nigel in May 2014. It was obvious from the start that the welfare of their dogs and all the puppies was paramount and it was fantastic to be accepted as prospective owners of a Clumsetter puppy. We asked Nigel and Lisa to choose a puppy from the litter (as they all were adorable!) and Monty became part of our family. He is now 15 months old and is full of life! He has a lovely temperament, is great with people and other dogs and is quick to learn. It is a real privilege to own Monty and we are grateful to Nigel and Lisa for giving us the opportunity to be part of the Clumsetter family and for being so helpful whenever we have needed support and advice.  Keith and Caroline, Cotswolds.

We have had the immense pleasure of owning a Clumsetter dog for almost 3 years.  From first contact with Lisa and Nigel to date, we have found them very helpful and knowledgeable.   The dog himself, who we named Ghost, is a very good example of the breed and is extremely biddable and was easily trained. He has a fabulous nature and energy to burn.   We would recommend Clumsetter to any prospective buyer.

When I wanted to breed a litter of pups I went to see Lisa and Nigel, after meeting them a few years earlier and falling in love with their cocker spaniels. I chose Rocky (Granite Mist of Clumsetter) to sire Rubys pups and couldn't have been more pleased with the resulting litter. We had 6 very strong pups of assorted colours. There were 3 chocolate, 2 chocolate & tan, and 1 lemon and white. The Lemon and white pup (Pippin) came back to the Clumsetter fold and is now being used at stud producing his own beautiful puppies. All the pups have gone on to become good gundogs or done well at agility. After having such a lovely litter using one of Lisa and Nigel's Clumsetter stud dogs I will certainly be paying another visit if I want to breed again.

" Just had to drop you and Nigel a line now that Clumsetter Grey Wind (aka Billie) is coming up to his first birthday.   We are thoroughly pleased with him and his lovely nature. He is a steady, but attentive gundog for my husband to learn how to work a dog for the very first time, but equally, he is a wonderful house dog. He has a very gentle, loving nature but with a little mischief that makes us laugh. Billie is a very precious member of our family and we would like to thank you for your kindness and advice when we asked. The Clumsetter Facebook page is a brilliant idea it keeps us in touch with his siblings with which we have made some lovely new friends. It was important for us to have an obedient, healthy dog and Billie surpassed all our expectations.   Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for your very careful breeding and the superb start you gave our precious pup. We will be joining your waiting list again in the future for a little sister for Billie - I suppose really that says it all".  Sue and Paul Taylor, St Ives, Cornwall.

I searched and searched the internet for a working cocker spaniel.  I know what to look for and I'm very fussy!  Lisa and Nigel stood out because of their passion, professionalism and friendliness.  It was very clear that they are 'responsible breeders'.  They don't let just anyone have one of their puppies!  Luckily I passed the test and our beautiful little girl is nearly 1 now.  From what I read, all are in agreement that Clumsetter spaniels are incredibly well balanced, biddable, beautiful and well bred.  The support I've had from Lisa and Nigel since buying our pup is incomparable and it's obvious that this will always be the case.  I very much hope I am lucky enough to own another Clumsetter puppy in the future and cannot recommend Lisa and Nigel highly enough.  Rhona Fitzpatrick, Killiney, Ireland.

Hi Lisa and family. Thought you would like to know what a star Frodo has turned out to be. He has not read any puppy guidance notes so does not realise he should follow exercise and rest guidelines. He seems to be on the go much of the time. Still wondering why the cat doesn't play with him. Have a very happy New year.  David Clark, Bodmin, Cornwall.

After suddenly losing my beloved Sky I never thought I could find another such special dog ... then I was lucky enough to find Lisa and Nigel who, thankfully, allowed me to have Winnie,  who we could not be without and of course we think is the best Clumsetter ever!!!   She is everything a wcs should be and much much more and we could not recommend Lisa and Nigel more highly.  Jane McClean, Esher.

Lisa thank you for my amazing Gundog River, I have had him a year now and I know I have a fantastic dog.  River's focus and temperament are outstanding.  I would recommend anyone looking for a pedigree working dog to have a Clumsetter.  Andrew Grose, Cornwall.

It is a year now since we first contacted you and Nigel re having a Working Cocker Spaniel.  Can I say that the whole experience from initial contact, to our vetting by you as to our suitability, to collection of our fantastic Clumsetter Ghost (aka Ghost) and your subsequent help and advice whenever required has been immense.  I would certainly recommend Clumsetter Gundogs to anyone who requires a quality dog from quality people.  Thank you so much for Ghost.  Mike and Sarah Samuel, Newport.

I have owned a number of gun dogs and Trajan, from your most recent litter has been brilliant - friendly, biddable and totally adorable.  The Gray Family, Wimbledon.

Our Clumsetter puppy joined our family in October 2013. He is the most gorgeous boy ever - biddable, really affectionate and always full of fun.  He has tremendous focus and is doing so well in his training.  He is loved of course by us but also by our older wcs, May.  Lisa and Nigel took a lot of time and care getting to know us to ensure that Rolo went to a suitably loving and active home.  I cannot recommend them highly enough as responsible and caring breeders who are also genuine and honest people, passionate about their dogs and puppies.   Sarah Hunt, Wimbledon.

Lisa and Nigel (and Becky) spent a lot of time and energy making sure that we were suitable to get a Clumsetter puppy.  Our boy wcs Archie has been with us since October and he is an absolute star and has fitted into our family perfectly. He is lovely with the children and other dogs and was very easy to house train. He is doing very well at Gundog training and the early indications are that he'll be a great working dog as well as a smashing pet. The support and service one gets from Lisa and Nigel is way above normal expectations and is testament to how passionate they are about their puppies and how much they care.  Andrew Ward, Dorset.

Buying our first cocker spaniel, the help and advice received from Lisa and Nigel was invaluable.  We are so pleased with our dog who is already proving to be an excellent gundog at 15 months, as well as a fantastic pet.  We would return to Clumsetter for future dogs without hesitation.  Simon, Taunton.

I can't thank Lisa and Nigel enough for our beautiful Tilly.  From the first time we made contact, to bringing her home and the months that followed your advice and support have been invaluable.   She has been quick to learn, and very eager to please.  Keith is always getting compliments whilst on shoots about what a fantastic and extremely hard working dog she is.   I'm sure she will be our first of many working cockers!  As Lisa told me when we first met, you can never just have one!  Lucy Bates and Keith Grayson, Nottingham.

I have had the pleasure of owning a Clumsetter dog (Clumsetter Mahogany) for a little over 3 years now.  Being fairly local to them I came upon The Franklin’s purely by chance.  Having had a terrible experience with my first dog's irresponsible breeders I was very nervous, on meeting Lisa and Nigel this worry soon melted away.  The support and advice that they provide is priceless.  To this day I am amazed by their level of knowledge and experience and by their ability to have produced such a fabulous dog.  He is loving, loyal, handsome, obedient and utterly hilarious at times.  He has also adjusted to life with a small child fantastically well. It is a real privilege to have him as one of my dogs. Hannah Chanter, South Molton, Devon.

I am really pleased my first dog is a Clumsetter Gundog!  My partner has always had dogs but being a newbie the advice and guidance that I have had from Lisa & Nigel has been reassuring and invaluable.  From my first contact, the Clumsetter clan have been professional and caring.  Iolo aka Clumsetter Balin has been part of our family for a year now, his temperament is faultless.  He has been a pleasure to train - although we have not trained him to the gun, we attend obedience classes and an agility club - he is an absolute natural (I'm told)... look out Crufts!! He brings us fun and laughter everyday! Hopefully be adding another Clumsetter to our family next year.  Thanks Lisa and Nigel.  Helen, Pembrokeshire
